Andrés César

I am a Senior Researcher at Centro de Estudios Distributivos, Laborales y Sociales (CEDLAS) and an Associate Professor of Economics in Facultad de Ciencias Económicas (Universidad Nacional de La Plata).

My research explores how globalization and technological change shape labor markets, firms, and income distribution, with a particular emphasis on emerging economies. I combine rich microdata with rigorous empirical methods to study the heterogeneous effects of international trade and automation, seeking to understand both their local consequences and their global implications. Across my work, I aim to link these structural transformations to broader questions about economic development, inequality, social mobility, and resource utilization.

I earned my Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. in Economics at Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP) in 2012, 2014, and 2018, respectively; and conducted research stays at Brown University (2017), Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2019), and Freie Universität Berlin (2025).
